Goodbye, Toxic Relationship

Free at last- No more bad smells, horrible appetite, acne, and all the other toxic traits that come along with smoking. There will not be time and energy taken away from my life any longer. I am making a stand to say no to myself. I will say yes to putting my health and wealth first!


I did it, I am 37 days free! I quit cigarettes cold turkey style. After 14 years of smoking, more than $10,000 gone down the drain, hours I will never get back, and damage to my body I will be working to recover for the next couple years. I can not yell loud enough THE TIME IS NOW! Just do it, be your #1 fan, supporter, role model, whatever you need to tell yourself "I'm worth more than this moment" I promise.


So how did I do it? I first went and bought a vape pen, but that was not working for me. I was replacing not quitting. Your daydreaming if you believe it is. That lead me to the extreme, to just cold turkey it. I prepared everyone in my house and life that I was taking this leap, and they would need to give me 2 weeks of being a crazy lady. I knew that was the biggest obstacle, handling my emotions. Since I haven't actually done that without cigarettes... How would that go?


It went like this- Being angry and mad over nothing, patience was not a thing, I wanted to cry every time something went wrong or took too long and I did. When I would go sleep I had dreams about smoking, my mornings had so much more time. My whole day had more time. There was moments during my first 2 weeks I would like forget I was quitting and catch myself looking for a cigarette and remember wait... I don't want that!


Your brain will play tricks on you and try very hard to get you to pick up it up and smoke it.


Some tricks I found that helped me for moments when I wanted to smoke:

  1. Buy candy

  2. Light candles

  3. Play loud music

  4. Have snacks ready

  5. Take a walk

  6. Do jumping jacks

  7. Make a board to remind yourself of your WHY

You can see if one of your friends want to be your on call person- when you need a firm reminder!


The benefits of quitting are astounding! I already see changes: taste, smell, breathing, my thinking, anxiety, gut health, and sleep. For women your chances of fertility are said to go up by 30% each month without smoking. You will not age as fast, your risk of a heart attack go down after so long. I can go one forever with reason and benefits. But ultimately it is up to YOU!


I do live with smokers, I grew up with smokers, I was a smoker for over 14 years, I am telling you it can be done! You do have the willpower to quit even when you can not change the environment around you. Give your family, peers, and friends a role model to look up to!
